When we are too old for myspace...

I've been thinking what it will be like many many years from now when we are old. Will we still use myspace and facebook? The concept sounds really odd to me. I mean I can only imagine that we will be joinging groups based on what rest home we live in like, "Residents of Shady Manor"or by what medication we take, "Seniors for Coumadin" or even "If 100,000 people join this group I get a hip replacement." But even before that, like when we are in our 40's and 50's will these things still be used in our lives? I do think that they are pretty convenient to use to keep in touch with people. I don't think any of us will be lonely in our old age that's for sure. What do you guys think, will we be using myspace and facebook after our 20's?

@ Justin, maybe, considering that those darned youngsters know everything about computers...

Personally, I've been thinking about deleting my myspace account, but then I figure it causes no harm to keep it up and private. I don't use it to communicate, and hardly anyone uses it to communicate with me. But, that's just me personally. Viral social networking web 2.0 sites like Myspace (is that enough buzz words for you?!) are probably going to be around for awhile, but in a little as a year or two from now, they won't be the same rebellious, free-spirited sites that we know now. Commercialism will encroach upon everything, and lawmakers will get in on the action requiring all kinds of verification of age. It's interesting to see how phenomenons like myspace and youtube will play out in the next few years as our society grasps things that are completely new to human society.

Well I figure if one thing isnt there another will be, probably via the new tech we will have later.

I think that gradually, we will have less and less time to devote to these social networking sites, and the interest will wear off, because something newer, more convenient and more fun will be out by then.

I don't know about facebook or myspace, but I agree that people will probably come up with some better and easier way to keep in touch with people.
